Head Injuries

Children are more active than grown-ups and consequently receive more injuries. Frequently, a head injury may occur and there are several warning signs to be watched.

1. Unconsciousness (cannot be awakened).

2. Drowsiness that lasts more than four hours after the injury. It is all right to allow your child to
go to sleep, but awaken him every hour for a while to make sure he can be aroused easily.

3. Paleness and vomiting that lasts more than four hours after the injury or repeated vomiting.

4. Amnesia for the period of time following the injury.

5. Persistently blurred vision or inability to see.

These are all signs of a concussion. Call us immediately or go the emergency room if any of these occur.
