FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

You have two offices. Can I go to either office or must I stay at one?

Our doctors and nurse practitioners rotate between our two offices and we are in the process of fully implementing our electronic medical records system. Therefore, the choice is up to you! You may choose to follow a certain provider, or stay at “your” office, or simply take the next available appointment.

Can my child see the same provider each visit?

It is generally possible to request a certain provider for well child visits. Sick visits are scheduled on a first come, first served basis so your usual provider may be fully booked by the time you call, although you can always ask. Because of these limitations, we encourage you to get to know a few of our providers so that you always see a familiar face.

Do your doctors see newborns at any local hospitals?

Our doctors do not see newborns in the hospital.

How does your office handle phone calls with medical questions?

We have a dedicated medical assistant or nurse at each office to answer your questions and give advice under the supervision of our providers. Please allow us 48 hours to handle prescription refills.

What about after-hours questions?

Our after-hours calls are triaged by the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Advice Line. However, due to the rising costs of healthcare, they are now charging our practice a PER CALL fee. In order to help us keep your costs down, please use the after-hours service for true urgent medical advice needs only. For prescription refills, appointment questions, or dosage advice, please call during regular office hours M-F, 9 to 5, or refer to the illness information available on this website. Thank you for your efforts in helping us drive down unnecessary costs during this tough and challenging economy. We remain dedicated to serving your needs as well as the needs of our Cobb community.

Where should I go if my child needs to be seen after the office is closed?

With all the various options for after hour care available, many parents are confused about which is best for their child. If it is a potentially life threatening emergency, seek care at the nearest emergency room. For less emergent problems, we recommend Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Emergency Room or the Pediatric Emergency Rooms at Wellstar Cobb and Kennestone Hospitals. If your child has an urgent problem that does not require an emergency room but cannot wait until the office is open, we encourage you to use a CHOA Immediate Care Center.

What about all the walk-in clinics at various pharmacies? Can we go there?

While you must make the best decision you can for your child, we do not generally recommend the pharmacy walk-in clinics. These clinics are staffed by Family Nurse Practitioners and have very limited diagnostic facilities. We feel it is in the best interest of your child to be seen by a provider with specialized pediatric training.
